Equine Assisted Counselling
& Learning (EAC / EAL)

Empowering individuals
to address and manage life’s emotional challenges
in a natural environmental setting, using horses.

Equine Assisted Counselling & Learning (EAC / EAL)
is a specialised form of counselling, using the natural environment and horses,
in a non-riding therapeutic programme.

EAC / EAL is a powerful and effective approach that has a proven positive therapeutic outcome over a wide range of clients / issues.

This programme addresses personal confidence and self-esteem, communication and interpersonal effectiveness, trust, boundaries and limit-setting, group cohesion, and addictions.

Programmes are tailored according to the needs of each individual client or group.

Sessions are creative, challenging, solution-focussed and non-judgmental.

Sessions are facilitated by a trained counsellor in a confidential, safe and caring environment.

Children & Adolescents

This counselling programme addresses children and adolescents with behavioural issues and mental health disorders, including anxiety, anger, depression and suicidal ideation, withdrawal, low self-esteem, bullying, Asperger’s and autism.
Individual and group facilitation is provided.

Individuals / Families

This programme helps individuals and / or families to communicate better, address
issues, and move forward into a healthy way of functioning. Difficult family issues, such as terminal illness of a family member, teenage challenges, etc., can be covered in these sessions.

Groups – Corporate / Sports / Women / Therapeutic / Similar Interest Groups

- empowerment
- self-actualisation
- group facilitation
- managing structural & policy changes

Self-awareness is the key to stimulating changes in behaviour and attitudes.

The EAC / EAL programme has demonstrated these positive changes:

  • improved communication and increased Emotional I.Q
  • reduction of inappropriate behavioural tendencies, confrontation and bullying
  • raised awareness and implementation of responsibility, accountability & leadership
  • improved teamwork and workplace cohesion.
  • increased self-confidence, self-esteem and self-worth.

Clinical trials have shown that being with horses harmonises heart and brainwave patterns. This releases oxytocin which sets the scene for the facilitators to begin their work with the client.

The facilitators are specifically trained in this therapeutic programme. This is an integrated client-centred model, using a wide range of counselling modalities, including Equine Assisted Counselling, TA, CBT, Gestalt Therapy, and Experiential Therapy.

Comments from past participants include:

“Other counselling touched just my head; this reached my heart and soul as well,
and healed me.”

“Very powerful, gentle, non-threatening, effective, out of the box counselling that really gets to the core of unresolved pain so quickly. This was amazing to do outdoors in a stunning setting in nature - having these beautiful horses that just
feel with you and sense your pain and accept you unconditionally. I can truly
recommend it.”
