Welcome to Totara Park Riding for the Disabled
Who are we?
Totara Park RDA [TPRDA] is affiliated to New Zealand Riding for the Disabled (NZRDA) which is a charitable organisation responsible for 55 RDA groups around the country.
An Operational Certificate is required in order to be affiliated to NZRDA. This requires us to comply with mandatory and required standards set by NZRDA. These standards are constantly under review and are updated to come in line with the latest Health and Safety Act, the Vulnerable Persons Act and the Animal Welfare Act.
Training of volunteers, coaches and therapists is provided by NZRDA qualified trainers to ensure that all volunteers have the knowledge and skills to provide programmes that are safe and meet the needs of riders and horses.
Provide interaction with horses to develop increased ability, independence and self worth for children and adult with physical, intellectual, emotional and social challenges.
Deliver safe and effective programmes to benefit more riders with a variety of needs in line with our Core Purpose.
The Group provides therapeutic programmes and horse riding activities to facilitate the training and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities whose physical and mental health is likely to benefit from such participation.
